BIO
BIO Marcelo Frota’s relationship with music started early when he was 13 years old and got his first guitar.  Spending his childhood in Angola, Africa, and as a young adult in the Spanish city of Barcelona.  This cultural mix brought different flavors to Momo’s music.    His work now a days reassembles different pieces of Brazilian music, giving him a natural approach to folk music.  Marcelo Frota’s inspiration comes from a variety of backgrounds: from the French songs of Charles Aznavour and Cheval Fou to old samba while growing up and also little know Brazilian artists like Belchior, Sérgio Sampaio and Clube da Esquina, from his native State of Minas Gerais.   His work has been in many ways associated with underground folk artists from Northern Brazil, such as Marconi Notaro, Lula Cortez and Zé Ramalho and Alceu Valença.   Marcelo Frota has been featured on Caetano Velosos’s 70th birthday compilation among other artists like, Os Mutantes, Seu Jorge, Beck, Devendran Banhart, and Céu, just to mention a few.   EndFragment
